Thursday's game
Salinas at Carmel, 6 p.m.
Very little separates these two clubs in terms of talent.
Not surprisingly, the reigning Gabilan Division tournament champion Padres and Salinas are within a game of each other in the league standings.
Carmel, who became the first league team in 21 years to go on the road and defeat Soquel last week, has rattled off three straight league wins since falling in its season opener to Aptos.
The Cowboys fell in overtime to the 21-time champion Knights on Tuesday. Yet a heartbreaking loss to Soquel was also a moral boast.
Nic Clark continues to be a sniper in the pool for Salinas with 25 goals while Alex Davidson has 18 goals and a team high 19 assists.
It's been a scoring by committee approach at Carmel with Kevin Auger, Jack Maughan and Ethan Miller sharing the burden.
Two of the better goalies between the pipes will be in the water this evening in the Cowboys Liam Parrish and Carmel's Carter Whitaker.
