Friday's game
Monterey (1-2) at Menlo-Atherton (0-3), 7:30 p.m.
Mentally, you have to wonder how Monterey will respond after blowing a 14-point lead and falling in overtime on the games final play to its biggest rival.
Menlo-Atherton has been outscored 123-19 this year. Hold on before making assumptions. Keep in mind that the three teams it has fallen to are a combined 8-1.
In addition, the Bears played well in a 26-9 loss to Riordan, a team that beat reigning Open Division champion Sacred Heart Prep 48-21 two weeks ago.
Jordan Mims has been a bright spot for Menlo-Atherton with 286 rushing yards, having scored one of the teams two touchdowns.
Tailback Akili Jones has carried the Toreadores offense with 534 rushing yards, including a 318 yard effort two weeks ago.
Zeri Wills looked much more poised in the pocket last week, providing hope for the passing game by completing 5-of-8 passes, including a touchdown pass. The three incompletions were drops.
Is the lack of depth showing up for Monterey, who has been outscored 56-21 in the second half this fall?
