Monterey football

 Don't panic.
Yeah, it was a humbling season opening loss for the Toreadores.
There were mistakes -- four turnovers.
 But what did you expect?
A new coach hired in late June,  installing a new system with a new quarterback and no off-season.
It's not going to happen overnight.
This is still a talented team, although depth wise it's thin in numbers.
 Be patient.
Keep in mind that Half Moon Bay was a playoff team last fall.
Sure, there will be some modifications in the coming weeks.
Akili Jones -- coming off back-to-back 1,000 yard rushing seasons -- needs more than eight carries.
And while giving up 42 points creates concerns about the defense, that wasn't the real issue.
You have to take care of the ball on offense. And Monterey didn't do that in its opener.
 That's correctable.
