Grabbing nine of the first 10 spots, the Panthers women's cross country team had an auspicious 2015 debut, winning the Beat the Heat Invitational at College of Redwoods.
Earning All-American status in 2014, sophomore distance ace Malena Grover opened her season for the Panthers by breaking the Redwoods course record by 46 seconds, clocking 19:12 over 5k.
Cracking the top 10 for Hartnell included Lizzy Garcia, Nancy Rodriguez, Maria Rodriguez, Yessika Mayo, Cynthia Tovar, Yvette Felix, Carly Zako and Adrianna Jimenez.
The Panthers also won the men's team title behind individual champion Javier Garcia. Angel Mejia placed fourth, Rene Siqueiros sixth, Jorge Sanchez seventh, and Mario Perez ninth.
