Watsonville-Pacific Grove football

Friday's game
Watsonville (0-0) at Pacific Grove (0-0), 7:30 p.m.
Pacific Grove has won five straight season openers, outscoring its opponents by a combine score of 187-56.
For the second straight year, the reigning Mission Trail Athletic League champions are replacing an MVP offensive part.
Having endured back-to-back 3-7 seasons, the Wildcatz haven't posted a .500 or better record since capturing the Monterey Bay League title in 2009.
Watsonville does possess an imposing target for returning quarterback Nathan Perez to wing it to in in 6-foot-4 receiver Austin Gomez.
While a committee approach may be in effect offensively for the Breakers, James Donlon and Eche Ebo are the heart of the defense, combining for 25 sacks last fall.
Three of Pacific Grove's four overall losses over the last two seasons have come at home. The other was to an eventual state Division IV champion.
