Gabilan Division cross country

 First glimpses can be deceiving.
Particularly when it's on a different course.
Still today's Monterey Bay League Gabilan Division cross country Center Meet gives us an early peak of what may lie ahead in six weeks.
Of course, not every team uses the meet as a gauge. Some refer to it as a glorified workout with different uniforms.
The meet, slated for Toro Park -- the cite of the league finals -- was moved to Natividad Park in Salinas because Toro is being used as a command center for the fires.
If North County looks like it's running on egg shells, it's because a portion of the team just returned from an invitational in Hawaii.
While San Benito appears a stride ahead of its rivals in the boys division behind Juan Gutierrez and Elijah Changco, the girls division isn't quite as clear.
Two names to keep an eye on are Salinas distance ace Kayla Clayton and North County freshman Faith Mora.
