Friday's game
Alisal (1-2) at Soledad (1-1), 7:30 p.m.
Having a bye in the second week of the season took Soledad out of its rhythm offensively last week while the defense looked worn down in the fourth quarter.
Alisal showed flashes of its potential in the second half, running off the games final 19 points last week to register its first win.
Quarterback Raul Garnica looked more poised in throwing the ball last week for the Trojans. That could keep teams from stacking the box with defenders.
Defense will keep Soledad in games. In fact, the defense produced the only points last week when Robert Lopez returned an interception for a touchdown.
The last time Soledad failed to produce points offensively was 22 games ago in a 2012 playoff loss to Monterey.
This is the ninth meeting between these two teams with Alisal holding a 5-3 edge. Soledad has won the last two games after absorbing five straight losses
