St. Francis Catholic-Greenfield football

Friday's game
St. Francis Catholic (0-0) at Greenfield (0-0), 7:30 p.m.
For the third straight year, the Sharks are playing an independent schedule with hopes of rejoining a league soon.
Part of this fall's schedule includes four games against teams from the Mission Trail Athletic League, making you wonder if there are ambitions of joining the MTAL.
Last year St. Francis was 1-2 against teams from the MTAL. That one win however was a wild come from behind 35-28 season opening decision over the Bruins.
The numbers are up at Greenfield this season. In addition, a 7-2 junior varsity team from last season has come up, providing encouragement about a turnaround after back-to-back 1-9 seasons.
Anthony Leon will get his share of carries in the backfield this year running behind all-league tackle Sabian Jackson. Five years ago, Leon's brother rushed for over 1,000 yards at Greenfield.
The Bruins actually lead in five games last season, but gave up a county high 334 points. How well they play defense this year could dictate their direction.
