The Seaside senior will go into Friday's State track and field trials having run career bests in the 300 intermediate hurdles in two of his last three races, clocking 39.10 last week.
Koenig did not have a good start at the Central Coast Section finals, blistering the final 100 meters to go from fifth to third to earn a spot in the state championships in Clovis.
Ranked 20th in the state, Koenig was the Pacific Division league champion. He has shaved over two seconds off his career best this season.
