The former Salinas High and Hartnell College distance ace got caught in a tactical race at Friday's NCAA track and field national championships in the 1,500 in Eugene, Oregon.
The Montana State senior never asserted himself in what was an extremely slow pace for three plus laps.
When Soratos made his move with 200 meters left, he was forced to run out in lane 3 in an attempt to pass five competitors.
Didn't happen.
When he hit the final 100 meters, Soratos didn't have enough gas left, finishing seventh in the nation in the 1,500 with a time of 3:55.60.
Soratos was considered one of the favorites coming into the finals, having won Big Sky Conference titles in the 800 and 1,500.
