Mills-Carmel baseball

Central Coast Section Division II
Quarterfinals
Saturday at Monterey Peninsula College, 11 a.m.
No. 15 Mills (17-12) vs. No. 7 Carmel (21-7)
The seedings proved to mean nothing in the first round of the Division I and II playoffs. So ignore the Vikings No. 15 seed.
Mills went 15-0 in the Peninsula Lake Division -- outscoring opponents 153-27. Of course, outside league it was just 2-10, including a 5-4 win over No. 2 seed Terra Nova in its playoff opener.
Daniel Walsh pitched two hitless innings in the win over Terra Nova. He and his 1.93 earned run average could get the start today against a potent Carmel lineup.
The Mission Trail Athletic League tri-champion Padres are one pitch away from having a 12-game winning streak instead of  being 11-1.
The bats showed up in their playoff opener with four homers -- two from William Kehoe in a six-inning 13-3 win over Scotts Valley.
Eight times in the last 12 games Carmel has scored 10 or more runs. Robby Treadwell and Bryson Lino both belted homers in the teams last game.
