Half Moon Bay-Santa Catalina softball

Central Coast Section Division III
Quarterfinals
Saturday at the Salinas Sports Complex, 2 p.m.
No. 7 Half Moon Bay (16-12) vs. No. 2 Santa Catalina (16-5)
When you've been playing as well as the reigning five time Mission Trail Athletic League champion Cougars, I'm not sure having the bye was a true reward.
Then again, it's one less game to win.
Santa Catalina closed the season with 12 straight wins behind MTAL Pitcher of the Year Lauren Garcia and the leagues co Most Valuable Player in Tatumn Satow.
Satow drove in a team high 28 runs in 21 games for the Cougars while Vanessa Furman and Marissa Bruno each have 34 hits this spring.
Among four teams that finished 7-7 in the Peninsula Bay Division, the Cougars have rattled off three straight wins, including a 5-3 decision over Stevenson in their playoff opener.
Half Moon Bay has dropped five games by one run this year, including a 2-1 decision to Division III top seed Notre Dame on March 7.
The Cougars have displayed some pop at the plate with 12 homers this season. Kallista Leonardos is hitting  over .400 with four homers and 30 runs batted in.
