An assortment of reasons have depleted the Eagles starting lineup.
Simply put, it's not the unit that started the season.
Yet, it's a cohesive group that has found chemistry at the right time, opening the Pacific Division with two straight wins, including a road win at Alisal.
The fact that the defending champions are undefeated could be labeled an early season surprise with all the setbacks. Three starters are not in the lineup right now.
Bernard Gomez has picked up the slack and put this team on his shoulders in league play, with back-to-back 19 point outings.
What gets your attention about the sharpshooting senior is his demeanor under pressure. Gomez is 14-of-14 from the free throw line in league play.
Head coach Mark Haddan could have a decision to make in what lineup he'll put on the court when the three players return in the next two weeks.
Because right now, the combinations on the hardwood are working.
