The consent among their peers is that the Mustangs are one of the more athletic teams on the court.
But does that translate to basketball skills?
King City isn't considered a hot bed for basketball.
The program has won two league titles in 43 years, the last one coming 12 years ago. It's also the last time the Mustangs have posted a winning season.
While King City is just 5-7 overall (1-1 in the MTAL) this winter, it's been competitive in a lot of games against playoff caliber talent.
Case in point came four days ago when it took host Pacific Grove to overtime. This is also a team that suffered a one-point loss to Alvarez.
Junior guard Jovanny Garcia and forward KeJon Harrison have shown flashes on the court for the Mustangs this year, with Harrison earning an all-tournament honor in December.
But if King City is going to make a postseason run and erase that stigma of just being athletic, it has to clear a hurdle and beat a team with a winning record.
