Alvarez hoops tournament

 First glimpses can leave a lasting impression. Or provide a confidence boast.
 Yet, one reason I don't put too much stock into early season tournaments is not everyone has their full arsenal.
 That could be the case for Alvarez, who hosts its annual Eagles Classic today.
 The Eagles just concluded football season will mean a handful of players will have had just a couple of basketball practices, including Edric Gamble.
 Last year Alvarez won the Pacific Division title after staggering to a 1-4 non-league start.
 Also expected to take part in the tournament locally are King City, North Salinas and Stevenson.
