CSUMB women's hoops

Friday's game
UC San Diego (2-3) at CSUMB (2-2), 5:30 p.m.
After four years as a role player, Jenna Bandy has asserted herself for the Otters, averaging nearly 13 points a game going into Friday's conference opener at the Kelp Bed with San Diego.
Three straight NCAA Division II appearances, which included the programs first conference title, came to a halt last year when CSUMB stumbling to an 8-17 overall record.
A glimpse of the future under first year coach Kerri Nakamoto was showcased down the stretch last winter when the Otters closed the CCAA season with three straight wins.
Newcomer Jazmine Johnson has made an immediate impact for the Otters this season, as the 6-foot forward is averaging 10 points a game, as well as a team high six rebounds a night.
Former Seaside sharpshooter and Herald Most Valuable Player Victoria Dorn has contributed in four games for CSUMB, having earned her first two collegiate starts.
Two years removed from capturing a CCAA tournament title, San Diego has three players scoring in double digits, including 5-foot-5 senior guard Miranda Seto, who is dropping in 19.5 points a night.
