CCS Division I finals
Friday's game
No. 3 San Benito (8-4) vs. No. 1 Salinas (8-4) at Rabobank, 7 p.m.
I don't think it matters that the Balers are making their third straight Central Coast Section Division I finals appearance while Salinas is playing in its first in 13 years.
Remember, there are easily 25 to 30 new faces on both teams' rosters each year.
This is actually San Benito's fourth trip to the Division I championships in six years, having beaten Salinas in the 2009 semifinals to reach the title game.
But the Balers have just one section championship during this run, that coming in 2012 when they beat Milpitas -- who returned the favor in last year's title game at Rabobank.
The Cowboys last CCS title came in 2001 when they defeated -- guess who -- San Benito 7-6 in the mud at Gilroy High.
While there will be no mud at Rabobank, San Benito snapped a two-game losing streak at the new stadium this year while Salinas is 1-1.
