Maybe we shouldn't be surprised by the Trojans 6-2 start.
Granted, it did lose its two best players to graduation -- not to mention nearly 35 points in offense.
Yet, the cupboard wasn't completely bare. And it's being restocked.
Overshadowed by the two transfer additions last year was Jessy Hurtado, who averaged nearly 14 points a game as a third option.
The 6-foot junior guard is the centerpiece to the offense this year and taking advantage of it, igniting Alisal.
It doesn't hurt having point guard Darwin Ongy handling the ball and feeding Hurtado, or the fact that 6-4 sophomore center Angel Rodriguez forces teams to defend the paint.
And Alisal coach Jose Gil didn't bring up 6-2 freshman Steven Castro to watch. There are some parts to make a run at supremacy in the Pacific Division.
