Carlmont-Salinas volleyball

Saturday's match
Division I
Carlmont (18-16)) at Salinas (19-16), 7 p.m.
These two programs are no strangers to the Division I playoffs, or even facing each other in the postseason.
In fact, the last time Salinas defeated Carlmont in the 2009 semifinals, it went on to win the CCS title and reach the State Division I championship game.
The Scots, who finished fourth in the Peninsula Bay Athletic League, opened the postseason by sweeping Monta Vista-Cupertino on Wednesday.
Senior setter Lauren Tierney has four players at the net that stand 5-foot-10 or taller that can hit with power.
The reigning four-time league champion Cowboys counter with Emily Cook and Alexis Friostad at the net, who have build chemistry with setter Marissa Burns.
Salinas' overall record is misleading, as 11 of those losses came in tournaments, where it is a best-of-three instead of five.
