Head coach Chris Morgan pinned the loss on himself.
It was his call to go for it on fourth down in the first quarter inside the 50-yard line.
 It didn't work.
 Momentum changed.
The result saw Hilmar run off 28 unanswered points -- in the first half in beating Pacific Grove 28-7.
Yet, I don't have a problem with Morgan taking the risk.
It was a non-league game. He believes in his players. It backfired. But that belief hasn't changed. His players know that.
Call it a learning experience to draw from later in the season.
Remember this is a revamped team that is learning on the job. Lesson learned.
