Changing the culture of the program was the goal from the beginning.
Accepting losing was no longer an option.
No one is touting the Spartans as a power.
Yet, two straight wins following a 17-game losing streak has gotten the attention of its peers, as has the 114 points Gonzales has run off in the last two weeks.
Last year the Spartans produced 163 points all season.
Rebuilding a program doesn't occur overnight.
The hurdles to climb get a little higher as the Spartans take aim at halting a 13-game Mission Trail Athletic League losing streak next week.
Still, you have to like the direction the program is headed. Of course, health is always an issue with a roster under 25 players.
But that pride is back. So too is the confidence. It's time for the student body to get on board.
