Palma-San Benito boys hoops

This is the reason Palma took its lumps in the preseason.
For games like tonight when it faces defending Gabilan Division champion San Benito.
If either team has title aspirations, tonight is a playoff game -- meaning a must win.
The Balers are 19-3 overall this season. But two of those setbacks have come from league rival Seaside, dropping them into a tie for first with the Spartans with three to play.
All three of Palma's league losses have come on the road, including a 66-47 humbling by the Balers on Jan. 22, in which it was outscored in every quarter.
The 66 points were the second most points Palma has allowed this year as defense and discipline has carried this team.
That Chieftain defense has to keep an eye on Hyram Miskin, who leads the Balers in scoring and three-point goals.
