Salinas-Monte Vista boys hoops

The Cowboys are on the playoff bubble.
For Salinas to petition for the postseason, it will have to win two of its final three games to reach the .500 mark.
Even that's not a lock in the Division I playoffs, where 19 teams are expected to qualify for 16 spots.
Running the table to close the season would certainly help their cause. Two of those games are on the road, including tonight, where Salinas is just 1-3 in the Gabilan Division.
Growing pains can describe both the Cowboys and Monte Vista, who is 1-8 in the Gabilan Division after winning the Pacific Division last year.
However, don't look for the Mustangs to move back into the Pacific Division next year. Sophomores Ryan De Los Santos and D'Shawn Hopkins are averaging a combined 29.8 points a game.
And Monte Vista has been competitive.
So has Salinas with juniors Laron Logwood and Nat Hunsdorfer logging a lot of minutes.
