Talk about heart.
No one gave King City a shot at beating unbeaten Pacific Grove.
Yet, for nearly 45 minutes, the Mustangs held the lead -- as much as 14 points in the first half.
Easily the most entertaining game this past weekend, King City pushed the Breakers to the brink, forcing them to rally for 14 points in the final 10 minutes to escape south county with a 42-41 win.
The Mustangs understood that a win was necessary for any shot at the postseason. And they played like a team chasing a playoff spot.
King City isn't going to the playoffs. But it got a taste of what a playoff type atmosphere feels like. This will bold well for the future of the program.
