Friday's game
Salinas (4-3) at Monterey (4-2), 7:30 p.m.
Maybe the road is better for the Cowboys, who are 3-0 away from The Pit.
Or the reality is Salinas has turned the ball over 12 times in its three losses this fall.
The Toreadores have hit another gear over the past two weeks.
It's clear Monterey learned from a heartbreaking loss to Palma three weeks ago, and it showed last week in the fourth quarter when it ran off 14 straight points to beat San Benito.
Sophomore quarterback Carter Aldrete has changed this offense for Monterey, with his ability to be efficient through the air.
Still, two of the oldest football programs in the state make their living on the ground and on defense. Salinas is 4-0 when it holds a team under two touchdowns, winless when it doesn't.
