Alvarez-North Salinas football II

To suggest that neither team has been involved in a game of this magnitude is somewhat misleading.
After all, both Alvarez and North Salinas have played and beaten Christopher, who most believed would run off with the Monterey Bay League's Pacific Division.
The concern I would have if I were both coaches is the emotion of playing a rival in a battle for first place.
These are neighboring schools, where the boundaries border each other.
Most of these kids know each other, or played together as youths.
And the 7-on-7 scrimmages over the summer were competitive.
The key to this game is what happens when the adrenalin of playing a rival in a big game subsides five minutes into the contest?
Emotion only lasts so long. You still have to execute and avoid mistakes. That's when maturity takes over.
