Ty Powell

The Marina native is staying in Seattle after the team resigned him to their practice squad on Sunday.
Powell, who spent time at safety and defensive end at Harding University, was drafted in the seventh  round by the Seahawks in 2013 to be an outside linebacker.
In three preseason games, the 250-pound Powell had nine tackles and two sacks. The 25-year-old will now get a chance to continue to learn the position.
Powell, who was a safety at Seaside High and Monterey Peninsula College, had eight sacks last year at Harding as a defensive end.
Players on a practice squad are free to sign with any other team, as long as they are put on the 53 man roster.
But this is a good spot for Powell, who can develop and eventually help a talented Seattle defense in the future.
The last local player to spend time on Seattle's practice squad was former Monterey receiver Maurice Mann in 2005 -- the year the Seahawks went to the Super Bowl.
