We knew there would be growing pains for Alisal with a new coach and a new system, stuck in a new and bigger league.
A bigger concern after Friday's Salinas Jamboree are injuries. Tailback Ricky Muniz -- arguably their best player -- was carried off the field after injuring his left knee.
Muniz, the teams leading rusher last fall, told me he believed the knee injury was serious, as he could not put any weight on it.
Prior to the injury, Muniz took off on a 45-yard touchdown run. This could be a crippling injury for a young squad. Two other players were also hurt.
