Michaelangelo Guzman

The left-handed hurler became the first player ever from Soledad to be drafted in the Major League Baseball Amateur draft when Seattle selected him in the 31st round.
Despite not playing college baseball this past spring, the 6-foot, 215-pound Guzman was drafted. He had played at Hartnell College in 2010 and 2011.
As a senior at Soledad in 2009, Guzman had 95 strikeouts in 55 1/3 innings, finishing as the school's all-time strikeout leader.
Guzman won seven games as a freshman at Hartnell College in 2010. Guzman was a preseason JC All-American in 2011 for the Panthers, and had originally committed to Oral Roberts University.
