Apparently potential counts as CSUMB back-up first baseman Nick Parent was chosen in the 36th round of the Major League Baseball Amateur draft by the Chicago White Sox.
Parent started just 10 games for the Otters last spring, hitting a home run in 48 official at bats. Prior to coming to CSUMB, he redshirted at UC Santa Barbara.
The 6-foot-3 junior led San Joaquin Delta to a state junior college championship in 2010, and holds the Foothill High School records for home runs and runs batted in.
