Soledad (24-3) vs. St. Ignatius (16-12)
Division II
Two teams that were not suppose to be here based on their seeds are now two wins away from playing for a Division II title.
No. 11 Soledad tied the single season school record for wins after upsetting No. 6 Leigh 4-2 while No. 14 St. Ignatius went into No. 3 Saratoga and rolled them 11-2.
You can't be too surprised that the Vikings are alive, considering they do play in the West Catholic Athletic League, where all five teams that got into the playoffs are still alive.
And Soledad has been the most underrated team all year. I mean, it's 24-3 -- with two of those loses coming from 28-0 Pacific Grove.
The Aztecs, who have scored a school record 283 runs this year, have relied on their pitching staff over the last three games, holding three teams to one earned run.
Andy Sanchez will likely get the nod on Saturday. But Daniel Farfan could be used in relief for three innings. Plus Soledad played on Wednesday, meaning Farfan got an extra day of rest.
