Notre Dame-Santa Catalina softball

Notre Dame (20-9) vs. Santa Catalina (25-2)
Wednesday, 6 p.m. at the Salinas Sports Complex
Division III semifinals
This is actually the third time in four years that the two teams have battled in the postseason, with the Spirits beating them 2-1 in 2010 and Santa Catalina prevailing 10-0 last year.
Notre Dame is making its 22nd straight semifinal appearance.
The concern for the Spirits is there health. Starting pitcher Elizabeth Ray is nursing a sore back and has lost some of her velocity, while third basemen Giovanna Kolofer, one of the teams leading hitters the last four years, can't bat right-handed with a torn ligament in her thumb.
 Both will play.
For all the expectations laid on the defending CCS champion Cougars with seven returning starters, it has been freshman Tatumn Satow leading the team in wins in the circle and hits at the plate.
Satow, who was battling an illness last week, entered the game in the third inning against Pacific Grove and held them to one unearned run.
No one was bigger in the clutch than Annie Aldrete, whose two-out, two-run triple changed the complexion of two dugouts last Saturday.
