For the fourth straight week, the North Salinas discus thrower will be in the Gilroy ring, where he has recorded his three best throws of the season.
Gonzalez will go into Friday's section discus finals ranked third on the season with a career best of 164-7.
My gut feeling is five throwers will be over 160 feet on Friday, particularly if the wind picks up. The finals are an adrenaline rush. The atmosphere is just different, with what's at stake
The last time North Salinas had a discus thrower reach the state meet was Tom Peterson in 1978.
