We have seen the Palma senior soar 23 plus feet in the long jump. Washington just has not done it legally.
Now would be a good time for the defending Central Coast Section champion to hit the board and get off a solid and legal mark.
Washington has the eighth best mark in the long jump going into Friday's section finals at Gilroy. He is clearly faster than last spring, and has jumped a career best 22-4.
But it's going to take a jump of 23 plus feet just to get into the top three. However, a mark of 22-8 is an automatic qualifying mark to state as well.
For the first time all season, Washington will do nothing but long jump.
