Monterey (8-1) at Seaside (9-0), Saturday 1 p.m.
Here is what I believe. The Toreadores won't try and run it to the outside. They can't against that fast and aggressive Seaside defense.
But Monterey could have some success inside, particularly if Seaside doesn't stay in its gabs and over pursues.
Teams, however, have not fared well pounding the ball against the Spartans defense this season.
Anyone remember the last time Monterey faced an undefeated program that aired it out as much as Seaside does? It beat Monte Vista 48-14 last fall.
This is virtually the same unit for Monterey that was on the field last year. It knows how to defend the pass.
I don't see a lot of points in this game, especially if it's raining or the field is wet. But these are two of the best defenses you're going to see this year.
