Pacific Grove-Carmel football

Pacific Grove (7-2) at Carmel (8-1), Saturday, 2 p.m.
 There's no need to rehash the past four years, which have been one-sided blowouts for the five-time reigning MTAL champion Padres.
 But this is a different Pacific Grove squad. Last year it hoped it could compete with Carmel. This year the Breakers believe they can win this game.
 And why not?
 The seven wins this fall are the most since 2007 -- the last time Pacific Grove beat Carmel and won the MTAL title.
 But has Carmel really come back to the pack in the MTAL this year?
 Well, Carmel has actually trailed in a league game this year and was only up by four in another at halftime.
 However, the end results tell us that the Padres are averaging more points this year than last year's record setting season.
