The last three seasons have been rough for the Spartans softball program, particularly in the MTAL where they have gone 2-34.
But if the first two non-league games are any indication, Gonzales will be competitive this year, having dropped two games by one and two runs.
Last year Gonzales was involved in one game decided by two runs or less in a 1-12 overall season. The Spartans go into the league season looking to snap an 18-game losing streak.
