 We know the Pirates aren't afraid to launch shots from beyond the 3-point arc.
 And if they begin to knock them down at more than a 23 percent rate, this team is going to run off with the MTAL title.
 As it is, the Pirates are my pre-season favorites. A combination of size inside with 6-foot-8, three-year starter Tucker Forbes and the elusive Chris Jaeger at guard give them two dynamic options.
 No one has a quicker first step to the basket than Jaeger, who is headed to Seattle University to play baseball in 2013. He could end up at the free throw line at least eight times a game.
 My concern for the Pirates is their depth off the bench. They may have to ride the starters extended minutes.
