Salinas volleyball

There were moments when Salinas matched defending State Division I champion Palo Alto's power at the net in Thursday's CCS Division I semifinal loss.
 Alex Barbeau and Maddy Mandon had a handful of kills that blistered the court. Palo Alto just had more weapons -- three players with Division I scholarships.
 I don't think the Cowboys were intimidated as much as just outplayed by a state ranked club.
 And I do not think this is the end of Salinas' dominance in Monterey County with the departure of Barbeau, who is headed to UC Santa Barbara on a volleyball scholarship.
 Mandon is just a sophomore along with setter Erin Reineking. And Laura Meyenberg will be a four-year outside hitter next year.
 Getting to the next level will be the off-season objective.
