Friday's picks
No rhyme or reason, but perfection is still a work in progress at 8-1, improving my overall mark to 81-19. Hey, if I was always right, what good would it do to make picks?
Division I
Salinas (6-4) at Homestead (7-3): I like the fact that the Cowboys have won their last four games and their last four road games. I don't like the fact that they are 0-4 against teams in the playoffs. Pick: Salinas.
Division III
Sacred Heart Cathedral (5-5) vs. Monterey (8-2) at MPC: You can't ignore the fact that SHC nearly beat Bellarmine. And you can't gauge them on their numbers based on playing in the WCAL. While SHC dropped its last three, Monterey has won six straight. Pick: Sacred Heart Cathedral.
Division IV
Menlo (7-3) vs. Carmel (10-0) at Pacific Grove: The Padres haven't played their starters for four quarters for seven weeks. Menlo's last two games have been like playoff games. Menlo's offense is difficult to defend Pick: Carmel.
Soledad (6-3-1) vs. Palma(8-1-1) at the Sports Complex: Regardless of the outcome, Soledad has had a magical year. The Chieftains will look to control the clock on the ground and wear down the Aztecs. Pick: Palma.

I don't think Salinas has alot left in the tank. It's tough year after year having to win out to make the playoffs and then go on the road for the Playoff game. I think they lose tonight Pick: Homestead
SHC has a good running back in Miles, But Monterey doesn't have a problem stopping the run. Yes, SHC is WCAL team but Monterey's running attack will be tough to deal with. If Monterey doesn't have a sloppy game due to all of the Equity League talk. I like their Chances.. Pick: Monterey
The one thing that scares me about Carmel is the fact that they havn't had a competetive game since the Salinas Game and Im sure Golden is confident in his squad but remember these are 16-17yr old kids who might freeze in tight situations.. I like Carmel in another Old Fashion Shootout
Pick: Carmel
Hats off to the Berlanga boys and the Soledad kids for a Great Season!!!.. I hope Palma doesn't get complacent in these first two rounds!!! Boredom can eventually result in a tough loss... Pick: Palma
