Lost in all the shuffling of teams from one division to the other for next fall is the new playoff plan.
The MBL's 'A' division is going to get three automatic qualifiers for football while the 'B' division gets one.
Why?
Is that suppose to provide the teams that were forced into the 'A' division incentive to accept their fate?
The top three teams in the old TCAL the last three years have been Palma, San Benito and Salinas. I do not see that changing in the 'A' division next year.
If the MTAL was only allowed one automatic qualifier, it would seldom get a second team based on points.
The same fate could follow the MBL's 'B' division runner-up.

thats because the MTAL is a c league and it is next to impossible to make it in on points if you are a c league but being a b league like the new mbl is it is still very possible for teams to make it at large depending on there pre season schedule
Its a travesty what happened last night at the Equity League Meeting and I personally CAN NOT wait until Dec 6th to hear some coaches official reaction as to what really happened last night..
To Force NMC and Monterey up was ridiculous... Yea I said it !!! anybody else who thinks otherwise is bias to their school..
If I am not mistaken no MTAL second place team has ever won a playoff game. If so does the MTAL really deserve 2 automatic bids?
Good point localyocal. But what happens if the new 'B league only gets one team and the MTAL get its automatic two? It could happen.
The solution is all 3 leagues need to be involved to make this really work.
MBL-A gets 3 bids, MBL-B gets 2 bids and MTAL-C gets 1 bid.
that sounds like a good idea
Do you think it is possible that was going through the minds of the MTAL AD's when they decided they did not want to be part of any equity league? Do you think they figured out that as a C league, if they became part of an equity league that they would end up with only one automatic qualifier slot for the play-offs.
If they did realize that, more power to them for being forward thinkers and not rushing into something.
