Friday's picks

No rhyme or reason, but a 5-0 start to the postseason improved the overall mark to 86-19.

Sacred Heart Prep at Palma: As much as I agreed with the decision for Palma to opt down, it's still hard to see them in Division IV. I know Sacred Heart Prep is the defending Division IV champions. But it can't stop Palma's ground game and it will not be able to move the ball. Pick: Palma.

Monte Vista at Carmel: If the Padres let Monte Vista go up and down the field like Menlo did last week, it will cost them. Monte Vista doesn't turn the ball over. Seven players start on both sides of the ball for the Mustangs. Only one goes both ways for Carmel. Pick: Carmel.
Salinas at Menlo-Atherton: You've got a power back to run between the tackles. A slasher to get to the outside. And a tight end with size and good hands. Salinas hasn't won five straight road games by mistake. Special teams extended their season last week. Defense dictates the tempo today. Pick: Salinas.
