22 teams in 22 days XIV

Seaside
Head coach Al Avila says being the underdog this year was the spark his squad needed. Who said Seaside is an underdog?
This is as athletic a team as any in the county. It's been like that for a decade. No doubt, the Spartans have questions, losing a record-setting quarterback to graduation.
And the freshmen and junior varsity squads struggled last fall. What's new? That's been the case in the past. Yet, when the players arrive at the varsity level, they're prepared.
One of the best receivers in the county last fall has moved to quarterback in Joseph Jakubowsky. The junior is a threat with his legs and arm. But the receiving core is green.
Matt Lualemana could be a force on both sides of the ball as a punishing linebacker and bruising fullback if he can remain healthy.
Last year Avila brought up seven sophomores that made impacts, including 285-pound lineman Jonathon Tuiolosega. Avila could do the same this fall.
Seaside's non-league schedule is brutal. I still think a 10th straight playoff appearance is in the cards.

Ya know Mr. Devine, i really take offense to you calling the receiving corp "green". the only thing in Seaside that's green is the grass and that's getting painted red after the season.

Would young make you feel better. I can't wait to see a red field.

Young, bottle fed, preteen, baby faced, crib crawlers, whipper snappers, anything but green. you should know better Mr. Devine.

Got it. I still want to see the red field.

I have to get on the board to disseminate funds from Prop P first. The plan includes the nations first red n black football field. but before that happens, my boys will pour their blood, sweat, and tears on our sacred ground like the Spartans before them have. You see green, we see red.
