Weekend picks

No rhyme or reason, but perfection strikes again, improving my season mark to 85-13.

Tonight's games
North Salinas at Salinas: The Cowboys have won four straight. North Salinas has dropped five straight. Pick: Salinas.
Palma at San Benito: It's not the unbeaten regular season that Palma is chasing as much as it is locking up a first round home game in the playoffs. Pick: Palma.
Monterey at Seaside: The Spartans have had trouble stopping the run. Monterey has had its problems containing the pass. Defense has to rise to the occasion. Pick: Seaside.
North County at Monte Vista: Both of Monte Vista's setbacks have come at home. North County's only loss was on the road. Something has to give. Pick: North County.
King City at Greenfield: The Bruins are one win away from setting a single season school record for wins. King City needs a win to make the playoffs. Pick: Greenfield.
Gonzales at Soledad: Two programs whose futures do not look so bleak anymore. Pick: Gonzales.
Saturday's games
Marina at Stevenson: Marina is going to finish the season and that is a victory in itself. Pick: Stevenson.
Pacific Grove at Carmel: No one has been able to figure out how to contain Carmel's offense for two years. That won't change this week. Pick: Carmel.
