CCS cross country

A peek at Saturday's CCS cross country finals at Toro Park.
Boys
James Palaniuk is going to run away with his second straight CCS Division V title. No one in the race is within 30 seconds of the York senior. York has five of the top six times in Division V.
MTAL boys champion Sam Hales of King City and Stevenson's James Silvestri are among the elite in Division IV. Stevenson is the defending Division IV team champions.
A sleeper in Division III is MBL champion North County, who is seeded No. 3 behind distance ace Andres Guerrero.
Salinas' Max Bell is attempting to return to the state meet in Division I. Teammate Bryan Tena is also a contender.

Girls
Anna Welsh's 18th place ranking in Division III is misleading. The Monterey junior ran roughly 90 seconds slower at the Monterey Bay League finals. If she runs close to her career best, she'll be in the top five.
Look for Melanie Hong of Carmel and Nina Anderson of Notre Dame to chase a CCS Division IV title. Anderson, the reigning CCS champ, is rounding into shape after missing most of the season with a stress fracture.
