A lot of emotion is exhibited when Seaside and Palma battle. It drains both teams physically and mentally. I'm not sure that's a good thing this late in the season, particularly with both teams playing their biggest nemesis when each returns to league play next week.
Monterey will face a Monte Vista passing attack tonight that is similar to Carmel, just not as fluid. Monte Vista's only loss was at home while visiting Monterey's lone setback was on the road.
Five of the eight teams Salinas has played this year are headed to the playoffs in their respective sections. Alisal has played five teams as well that could very well be headed to the postseason, but has yet to beat a playoff bound team.
What happened to North Salinas? It was three plays from starting the year 4-0. Now it's limping home at 1-7. Still it can salvage its season and disrupt one of its biggest rivals playoff plans with a win tonight.
