JC football battles

Gavilan (0-8) at Hartnell (2-6): In their two wins, the Panthers have scored 90 points. But in their six losses, they have produced just 117 points. Quarterback Austin Fales was sharp last week for Hartnell, but he was sacked four times. Linebacker Kiero Small has been a menace on defense for the Panthers. Now he's become a short yardage fullback. Running backs Alvin Jelks and Ricky Rodwell both rushed for over 100 yards last week.
San Jose (3-5) at Monterey Peninsula(4-4): The only two undefeated teams left in the Coast Conference are battling for no worse than a share of the conference title. Minus its leading receiver and two leading rushers last week, MPC quarterback David Fales put the ball in the air 37 times, hitting Eric Farias eight times. After an 0-5 non-conference, the Jaguars have won three straight. MPC can't afford to keep playing from behind. It has been outscored 53-18 in the first quarter.
