Cross Country

Distance runners from the Monterey Bay League and Tri-County Athletic League had two weeks to gear up for the CCS divisional cross country finals last Saturday.
Now all qualifiers get another two weeks to prepare for the state championships on Thanksgiving Weekend.
Two meets in four weeks. That seems like a lot of time off this late in the season. I do not see the benefit, other than dragging out a season that's already too long.

well, the long breaks could be due to the fact that the southern section, a much larger section, has their sectional prelims the same week as CCS and they have the finals the week before state. this is just how it works out, the Southern section also does not have 2 weeks between their league meet and ccs such as some ccs teams, this is because they have more league meets throughout the season. the break is good though because it gives the athleats a week of hard training before they taper. if they were forced to take 2 consecutive weeks easy they would "peak" too soon.
