Football quick hits

Monte Vista Christian and Greenfield both set single-season school records for wins this year. Both teams were also undefeated on the road.

Three players for Sacred Heart Prep rushed for over 100 yards last week. Seaside gave up over 500 rushing yards last week. This is not a good first round draw for the Spartans.

Neither is Palma and St. Francis. Then again, pick your poison in the Open Division. It's stacked from top to bottom. The two teams played to a 7-7 tie in Week 1.

Carmel has been vulnerable against the run. Remember, it gave up nearly 400 rushing yards to Monterey in Week 3. Kings Academy's Amir Carlisle is two yards shy of 2,000. Of course, it didn't matter in last year's 59-8 pasting. I bet Carmel doesn't mow the lawn this week.

Could Monterey and North County be headed for a rematch in two weeks in Division III? The Condors' only loss was at Monterey. Of bigger concern for North County is getting Mike Lopez back on the field after suffering a high ankle sprain.
