Weekend picks

No rhyme or reason, but when am I going to learn to stop picking against King City? The result was a 7-2 record, improving my overall mark to 57-13.

Tonight's games
Seaside at Monte Vista: It's one thing to lose a star teammate to an injury. It's another to see a teammate lose a parent. Seaside is playing with heavy hearts tonight. Pick: Seaside.
Monterey vs. Pajaro Valley at Watsonville: An argument can be made that Monterey is playing some of the best football in the area. Pick: Monterey.
King City at Pacific Grove: The Mustangs have won four straight games. Jacob Holcomb has six touchdowns in the last two games. I've learned my lesson. Pick: King City.
Carmel at Gonzales: The MTAL is nothing more than a tuneup for the playoffs for Carmel. Pick: Carmel.
Palma at Alvarez: One more win seals up a 27th straight playoff spot -- based solely on points -- for the Chieftains. The Eagles have never beaten Palma. Pick: Palma.
Salinas at Gilroy: How do you pick against a Cowboys squad that is undefeated outside the Salinas City limits? You don't. Pick: Salinas.
North Salinas at San Benito: The Vikings postseason hopes are on the line tonight. All five losses this fall are to teams headed to the playoffs. Pick: San Benito.
Marina at Greenfield: The Bruins will mix in junior varsity players with their varsity to keep things respectable tonight: Pick: Greenfield.
Saturday's games
Soledad at Stevenson: The Aztecs are a mess after changing coaches last week. Stevenson still controls its playoff fate. Pick: Stevenson.
Christopher at North County: Look for the Condors to rebound and continue their pursuit of the Monterey County single season scoring record. Pick: North County.
